The Southward Youth Landscaper Lessons Connects the youth to homeowners as a WPSAC Love the BlocK Program for 2024

The Weequahic Park Sports Authority (WPSA), in collaboration with the City of Newark Office of Sustainability, Essex County Sheriffs, local seniors, the Newark Public Library Weequahic Branch, and other community volunteers, proudly presents the Weequahic Park Sports Authority South Ward Landscapers Love Your Block Project. This community-driven initiative introduces local youth to essential landscaping skills while fostering intergenerational connections. WPSA additionally incorporated a community stewardship opportunity to help beautify Weequahic Park’s historic Dividend Hill. The projects provided young people with mentorship and guidance from experienced community leaders/volunteers, and Rutgers-trained Master Gardeners, empowering them to be more involved with outdoor landscaping projects in the community.
