Since 2012, the Weequahic Park Sports Authority Conservancy are often found in Weequahic Park, checking the safety concerns of the park. The duty of volunteering to inspect the lights weekly and monthly as community stewards helps to ensure a pleasant park environment.
The journey to have them repaired was due to an unground wiring issue.
The reported outage showed multiple street lights out of service on the Elizabeth and Dayton side of the park. The restored lights have not yet been resolved, except for a few missing and damaged poles, which will be addressed soon.
